WHO IS SONE G

SONE G

Gospel Reggae Artiste

Jamaican born Gospel Reggae Artiste Cecil Wilson, more popularly known as Sone G has emerged as one of the Caribbean’s more creative minds and versatile Christian Artist. He was born on September 3, 1985 in the parish of Clarendon. Sone grew up surrounded by the constant presence of dancehall and reggae music. His family owned and operated a sound system known to this day as Turbo Sonic. Dancehall was a part of the lifestyle and even at a tender age, his grandmother Viola (Vie) would take him to events where the sound system was being played. This was a major contributor to his desire to be a musician and laid the foundation that has created the zeal that is now exuded whenever he puts pen to paper.

Sone G was also greatly influenced by his other Grandmother (Glasmine) who was very instrumental in his early years. He would have to attend church on Sundays and just about every time the doors were opened. He became a believer in Jesus during his 1st year of high school in the summer of 1999. Sone was a young protégé playing football for his high school (Clarendon College) and for the Parish Clarendon. He then migrated to the US after completing high school.
Sone performs in the USA where he still resides. He most recently performed with Stoneboy, Capelton at AFRO Fest in Miramar FL. He has also shred stages with Tye Tribbet at the Church of God Youth Convention in Orlando FL, DJ Nicholas on Sumr’ Fete. He has performed in New York, and regularly performs in other regions. He has shared stages with Sister Scully, Sandra Brooks, among other renowned Gospel artistes.

Sone G was part of the duo PositivNRG during the earlier years of his musical career, winning the best new artist award in 2008 at the Hopeton Lewis Music awards. They were also featured on the album Next Level that featured Papa San, Shelly Thunder and Nigel Lewis.

He's the husband of one wife  and father of three lovely sons. He is also a licensed minister in the church of God and serves as a Youth Director at New Life Fellowship Center, pastored by Bishop Ruddock in Sunrise, Florida.
